Stuart Island

After the boys' adventures to the Pikmiktolik river, the girls decided they should go on an adventure of their own. We decided to go to Stuart Island, which is a fairly good sized island right off of Stebbins. A lot of people have fish camps out there and actually spend a good deal of their summer on the island. We found our way by aluminum boat first to the island where we went for a walk and picked berries. Then we made our way around the other side where we got off on a large pile of rocks in the ocean. On the rocks we found Murs and Puffins. They both live way down in the rocks which makes it very hard to get a good view of them. We did see hundreds of them flying around and floating. On the way back we saw a porpoise. It was very cool and was playing around the boat.
The weather is still nice here. We have had one frost but other than that it has been sunny and in the 50s. We know we have to take advantage of the weather while it is here so we have been taking trips to St. Michael by Honda, picking berries and walking a lot.
We hope you are all well!

Hi there! We already miss you tons but it is fun to hear about all your Alaska adventures after the summer break. It is sweltering down here, so I am jealous to see you in heavy coats in the cooler weather.
I'm glad to hear that the kids are settling in to the school routine.
We miss you both tons and will talk to you soon!
