Volleyball

Hi,
Well, my first volleyball weekend is underway. The fact that it is after midnight and I am just finding time to write should be an indication of my day. My kids are occupied playing basketball in the gym with the other teams that are here for the tournament. We played two matches today and lost them both in 3 games. The kids started out really well in the first game and then got a little down and it was a struggle to bring them back for the second match. The second match was closer and the scores were like 25-20, so not too bad for our first outing. We played the top two teams in our district so at least we have that under our belt. The games ended around 10pm and we headed for the store because everyone was hungry. The store keeper is apparently in Nome so the store was closed. On the way back we ran into Damon and Heidi who teach here in Unalakleet but taught in Stebbins for the last two years. They graciously welcomed us into their home and cooked spaghetti for all nine of us at 10:30 at night. We stayed their until about 11:30 before heading back over to the school.
Tomorrow their is apparently a dance in the gym from 9:30 to midnight after volleyball ends. That should be fun... We head back to Stebbins on Sunday morning. The kids seem to be having a good time and have been really great so far.
Thanks for posting so much on the last entry. It is so great to hear from so many of you.
Katy

Now I can really relate to your activities and I almost felt like I was with you on your volleyball journey. Nothing tastes better than spagetti late at night especially after so much exercise. Good luck to the team in future games. I adore my dancing fans and they have a temporary place of honor until I move in two weeks and then another special place will be honored with their presence. Thanks again for everything..love ya. m

Hi
Glad you're home safe and sound. Get some sleep so you don't get sick. It'll be good when you're team gets a win under their belts. That'll make a difference.
Love,
Mom

Kate and Jesse, This reminds me of my high school road trips when playing football. However, the kids I hung out with weren't quite as well behaved as I am sure your kids are. Cindy and I are enjoying reading about your life enriching experiences in the north country. There is something about the vastness of an open country like Alaska that really forces you to learn some things about yourself. No doubt your perspective on life will be unalterably changed as a result of the next year (or more?). That is a good thing. We really enjoyed having you both at the house at the San Juans and hope that in the future we can have another family get together. Take Care. Love John and Cindy
