Family Arrives

My parents arrived yesterday in good spirits to 10-20 mph winds and plenty of snow. They had a full day of travel coming from Seattle to Anchorage, Nome and then on to Stebbins. No one told us that Jim had started wearing his hair in a mohawk. They brought lots of excellent gifts including those sent by Connie which made it in fine condition. Today there is some snow on the ground but we are going to get out on the tundra and take some 4-wheelers (Honda's in this village) over to Saint Michael. Please post any comments or requests for pictures. Hope everyone is doing well.

Sounds like you are going to have a good time. Looks like you even have native art displayed already! I know I don't know your family very well, Jesse, so you'll have to let me know who the extra woman in the picture is.
I have about 8 weeks of pregnancy left (hoping for more like 5 or 6) and Linda is in full search mode for a substitute.
Nora is having her first sleep over with a neighbor girl tonight. One will sleep in the bed and the other in the Love Sac. We'll see how it goes! Hopefully they'll just wear each other out and Brian and I will be left to our own devices :-)
Take care!

We just got back from a great adventure and a wonderful time.To be able to experience a few day in a small Yupik village and to learn about a different way of life was something I will never forget. The villagers were very friendly and the kids were especially sweet. It was so fun seeing Jesse and Katy again and we already miss them. We ate like kings thanks to all of Katy's great cooking. One thing for sure its really cold there and it now feels pretty warm here in Seattle.Good luck Katy this weekend with your team. love and miss you both and stay warmBounty08

Looks like you all had a good time. If you guys are there for more than a year I hope to get up and visit you too. The whole experience of traveling on 4-wheelers, cold air blowing on your face, nothin' but Tundra in front of you... Everyone needs to experience that at least once in their lives! It hasn't begun to get cold in NY yet, so I can't quite sypmathize, but stay warm and keep up the good cookin'! Good luck with all your sporting events too - Josh

Hey guys-

It must have been so great to see family. You must be close to the one month count down until you come home!! Back to the land of traffic and Starbucks! :O) The grocery store has me concerned a bit. Kate your classroom looks wonderful- wish I could see more. What a great adventure!! Miss you. Charity

Cate & Jesse,

Can you see McKinley from where you guys are? (didn't think so). I was in Tallkeetna last week and thought of you. Your blog is really neat. I can be typing like this, while in the office, and everybody else thinks I'm working! I hope you guys are keeping a journal. Do you have plans to formally write about your experience? I have to go, but will be back in touch. Take care!

Hi Aunt Kate and Uncle Jesse,
We have been trying to call you with Skype but no luck. Now it is time for bed. I liked looking at the pictures of you, Uncle Jesse with Jim and Sherri. I would like to see more pictures of you.
I am going to be a cat for Halloween and baby Reese is going to be a mouse. I want Daddy to be the cheese. I can't wait to see you at Thanksgiving.
I love you and miss you!
Love, Roslyn

Kate and Jesse you were perfect hosts.I had a wonderful time and enjoyed seeing how the natives live. I especially enjoyed the smiling children and their obvious love for you two.
Thank you again for all your generosity and the good conversations we had about life in Stebbins.
Love you both.
