Basketball Update

Jesse got back from Kotlik on Sunday with lots of awards in his pocket. They had a great weekend. His team took second place only losing to Kotlik. One of his boys was on the all tournament team and another one won the 3 point contest. And I am happy to report that Jesse left with the Coach of the Tournament award. He will be leaving this Friday to travel to Shishmaref and the following weekend he will play home against Emmonak.
We had quite a windstorm last weekend with 50 mile an hour winds with gusts even higher for a 24 hour period. Luckily, we don't have any trees so the power didn't go out. The wind blew so hard that there was snow inside the windows and our artic porch was covered. The temperature is positive 10 which is nice and the last two days have been sunny. We have started to notice the days getting longer and are eager for Spring.

So Jesse, you're starting to collect some hardware. I knew it wouldn't take long with your commitment to the program. I hope your team is starting to see the value of commitment on their part. That sort of thing can snowball and become the foundation of a winning program that becomes tradition. We're all proud of you down here in the lower 48, but wish you were close enough that we could participate. Give'em hell this weekend.
