Yesterday was a very eventful day. We borrowed a 4 wheeler and took a trip to St. Michael. On our way we saw our first herd of Reindeer. They hang out close to the road so we were able to get a picture. There was an albino in the heard which was cool. When we got to St. Michael we went to the beach and collected beach class. There is a lot of beach glass up here. It washes in with the waves and is easy to collect. In Stebbins we mostly have clear glass but in St. Michael there is colored glass. After picking up glass we went to the local grocery store for our weekly trip. St. Michael's store has some dairy and produce so it is worth the 11 mile ride over.
The weather is starting to change. It is getting quite cold at night and only getting up to about 50 degrees during the day. We are losing about 10 minutes of daylight every day. I will be quite excited when it gets dark earlier so that the kids will go in sooner. Our apartment is right next to the playground and they stay out there until midnight or later. The kids are constantly knocking on our door. They either want to visit or to sell us things. They have a lot of hand woven baskets, jewelry made of ivory and dream catchers for sale. I'm sure that we will have quite a collection by the time we leave.

I guess your Christmas shopping will be easy. Dream catchers for everyone. Then you can just toss the presents in the sleigh when Santa comes to harness up the reindeer. Hope you've been able to rest this weekend and are ready for another week of teaching.
Love and miss you
Mom

Speaking of Christmas, we need some artwork for our bare walls. Maybe you could throw together some type of beach glass mosaic piece in your spare time?
The ATV ride looks fun. Makes you appreciate your groceries!
Hey Guys!
That shopping cart is way too cool! Which by the way, how do you guys get around? Walk, run, swim, 'thumb a ride'???
Is the glass that you collect wash in from things thrown overboard from ships out in the Bering Sea??
Careful what you ask for...now you have darkness for almost 22 hrs!! Listen for things that go 'bump' in the night!
Sounds like you two are haveing an absolute blast! Thanks so much for the journal!
Love Beth
Hi Katy! I love it when people share their experiences like this. I feel like I get to know the world better. Thanks! Glad things have gone well so far and hope they continue.
