School started on Monday and this is Wednesday so I guess things could be worse. We are extremely busy keeping the kids on task during the day and planning lessons at night. There is really no set curriculum up here so you have to create everything yourself, which isn't easy. The kids are nice for the most part but are very low academically and very needy. I have a Social Studies class of 25 which doesn't sound like much but up here it is about 15 too many. Most classes run with about 10-15 kids. I think 60 kids at Lakeview is about the same as teaching 25 kids here. Anyway, we are off and running with school and we think we are going to make it.
On Saturday before school started the staff decided to throw the net out and see what we could catch. We pulled in about 20 Salmon and a few other things. I have never experience fishing with a net before and it was kind of strange. It takes a lot of time to get the fish untangled from the net. After we got them all out there was a cleaning and cutting station and then we sealed them in freezer bags. They said that the next batch they get in will be smoked.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the pictures and we would love to hear from you so please post comments.
Katy

Holy Crap! Those fish are HUGE! Sure looks like you are in the bush. Sounds like you need a special ed teacher up there...maybe not a pregnant one though. You'll have to go off all the knowledge you gleaned from me over the past year and a half :-)
I miss you!
Wow!!! I really enjoyed the pictures and stories about your new adventures. It's almost as good as being there. I'm proud of both of you and I know you will make the best of this new home. Katy I missed your call by a few min. last night. I am back to work after a great summer of goofing off and it seems to me that vacation beats work. It just doesn't pay as well. Love Dad
Those look like some great coho. The one Jesse is holding looks ready to run up the river. Guess it won't have to now. Jesse, Have you tried to catch them with your pole yet? Probably too busy! Anyway, we miss you and can't wait to see you in October....Dad
What delicious looking salmon you caught...you got some good fishing skills.
Glad to hear you're surviving the first week.

hey guys! I love the new pictures! It looks like the weather has been pretty good! Glad to hear that you're surviving your first week of school....it's all down hill after that, right?....I mean 'down hill' in a good way! :)
Tomorrow is Reese's 9 month birthday. Peg & Joanne bought her patten leather shoes today so I'll be sure to take some pictures with her all dressed up and send them up to you.
Love and miss you both!

Hi Guys
The pictures look beautiful. Hope you are doing great. How long until the snow hits? If you get too cold, you can always come and thaw-out in hawaii. :) Love you and hope to hear from you soon.
Love, SARAH
Hello!! Kate I have really been thinking about the two of you lately. I listened to all three Rosie Thomas CD's the other day just to feel like old times. Sounds like you are both working on adjusting to the changes and staying plenty busy. Thanks for blogging! Miss you!
